Welcome! My name is Mahri and I'm a performer based in Jackson, MS. I am originally from Denver, Colorado, where I grew up singing and performing with my 5 siblings and my parents- all of whom are also musicians or artists! I fell in love with musical theatre watching classic movie musicals, and started dipping my toes into the world of live theatre at 7 years old. From there, I spent years in school plays, voice lessons, and children's choir doing everything I could to fill my life with as much music and performance as possible.
After a discouraging freshman year in Utah, I decided to make the leap and move myself out to Jackson alone. I graduated from Belhaven University with a degree in Theatre Performance in December of 2023. While at Belhaven I had the chance to learn, perform, design, and experience theatre in many new and challenging ways. I forged connections with the local professional theatre while in school, and as a post-grad 23 year old I now work here at New Stage Theatre full time! You can find me in the box office Monday through Friday, or performing and designing in various productions. The opportunity to work in live theatre has been the most significant blessing in my life, and I am grateful everyday that I trusted myself enough to take this chance.
Recent acting credits include Mamma Mia! (Sophie Sheridan), You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Lucy), The Moors (Emilie), and When We Were Young and Unafraid (Mary Anne).
Recent costume design endeavors: When We Were Young and Unafraid with New Stage Unframed, and A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur at Belhaven University.
